I am a textile artist with many years experience and can offer workshops for 10 people in my studio on the Herts and Essex borders, related to my personal current work as well as other textile techniques.
I am sometimes available to come out and give workshops to your group for a 2 to 5 day course.
The course will result in a portfolio of samples for future reference for you to begin work on a larger project. Your unique fabric is even suitable for clothing and interiors.
Classes are light hearted and fun with attention given to individuals to experiment with the technique and stretch the boundaries.

My current work, creating evocative cloth, accommodates two distinct ways of thinking. One involves the surface, motif, pattern, repetition and the illusion of dimension that skilful placement of colour and form can trick the eye into believing. The other involves the structure as I ruthlessly disrupt the smooth surface tension of the fabrics, snipping and cutting into the layers that are sewn together allowing the colours and textures buried under the surface to rise.
Hand dying, mostly natural fabrics allows the rich use of colours which when layered together with grids and stripes are then cut apart to reveal juxtapositions.
In each of my works I try and show both the intrinsic beauty of the materials and my own artistic vision.
